Mrs. Maureen Donovan Chaouch

Maureen Donovan Chaouch, Museum Collections Associate, completed a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Foreign Languages and a second Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Southern Methodist University in Dallas (TX).  Following a dedicated career in performing arts management, Maureen and her family moved overseas where she earned a Master of Arts in Eighteenth-Century French & British Decorative Arts and Historic Interiors in a joint program with The Wallace Collection (London, UK) and the University of Buckingham (UK).  Her thesis, “Following the Paper Trail:  Reconstructing the Residences of Marie-Catherine Brignole-Sale, Princess of Monaco (1739-1813,", provided opportunities for extensive primary research throughout the UK, France and Monaco.  Maureen completed a second Master of Arts in The Art Market and History of Collecting/Collectors in collaboration with the National Gallery, London (UK) and the University of Buckingham (UK).  Maureen based her thesis in Houston and was fortunate to have access to the MFAH archives to produce “The Percy S. and Edith A. Straus Collection:  Its Formation and Subsequent Arrival at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston."

Maureen has spent many years volunteering in the Houston arts community and is pleased to serve on the Board of Directors of Da Camera of Houston; as a member of the Provisional Class of 2025 with the Bayou Bend Docent Organization; and as a consistent volunteer at the M. D. Anderson Artspace for Patients and Caregivers.

Maureen and her husband, Adel, spend as much time as they can with family in Houston and in Adel’s home country, Tunisia.  They have been married for 25+ years and are grateful for their wonderful children:  Lilia (SAA ’20), Elyssa (SAA ’23) and Alexander (SJ ’25).  As a family, they enjoy traveling and spending time with their dog, Sherlock.  The Chaouch family worships at St. Anne Catholic Church in Houston.
