Theater

The Southwell Players and International Thespians are the theatrical group at Strake Jesuit. The Southwell Players have been a Jesuit tradition for over 40 years. The Southwell players include both the boys and the girls from St. Agnes and other participating schools. They are named after the British Jesuit saint, Robert Southwell.

Strake Jesuit has been a member of International Thespians since 1998. Troupe 4970 recognizes the work and commitment of outstanding theater students. Students must complete the equivalent of 100 hours of quality work in order to be inducted into the International Thespian Society.

Spring Play: "30 plays from 'Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind'"
Having opened in 1988 and still playing today as the longest-running show in Chicago history, Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind is an ensemble experiment in presenting "30 Plays in 60 Minutes." Each two-minute play is performed in random order with an interactive audience. An onstage 60-minute timer keeps everyone honest. This collection of comic, tragic, personal, and abstract plays gives you the chance to program your own evening of 30 Neo-Futurist plays. Go!

Presented by The Southwell Players, Strake Jesuit's theater troupe. Buy tickets here.
