Mr. Morris R. Clark
Morris serves as an Independent Director of Civitas Resources, Inc. (NYSE: CIVI) and Chair of the Audit Committee. He previously served as a director of Extraction Oil and Gas (NYSE: XOG) before its amalgamation into Civitas. Morris also serves as an Independent Director of Sitio Royalties Corp. (NYSE: STR) and Chair of the Audit Committee. In addition, he is on the board of Everen Investment, Ltd., the investment subsidiary of a Bermuda-based mutual insurer.
Morris retired as Vice President and Treasurer of Marathon Oil Corporation in 2019. During his career at Marathon Oil, he also served as Assistant Treasurer and Senior Tax Counsel. Before Marathon, Morris served as Senior Tax Counsel at Enron North America, as a Tax Attorney at the law firm of Bracewell & Patterson, and as a Senior Accountant with Touche Ross & Company. Following Morris’ retirement from Marathon, he continues to be involved with several community-based and educational organizations, with a focus on higher education and broadband accessibility in underserved communities. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the University of St. Thomas, Houston, Texas.
Morris holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Southern University, a Juris Doctorate from Tulane Law School, and a Master of Laws from New York University School of Law.
Morris is married to Shauna and they are blessed with four children – Rick ‘17, Brooklyn (SAA ’20), Christian ‘25, and Julia (an 8th grader at AOS).
