SJ JV Lacrosse at St. John's

The JV lacrosse team completed their undefeated season in dominant fashion on Thursday, blowing out district rival St. John's 18-6. A whopping 14 players got in on the scoring: Freshman attackman Quinn Kelliher had 4 goals and an assist, Freshman midfielder Luke Duffield had a goal and 3 assists, Freshman attackman David McFarland had a goal and 2 assists, Freshman midfielder Bennett Hendricks had 3 goals, Sophomore attackman Jacob Hyman had 3 goals, Freshman midfielder Luke Byman had 2 assists, Freshman midfielder Andrew Tyler had a goal and an assist, Sophomore attackman Jack Ledet had a goal, Freshman midfielder Roby Ripley had an assist,  Freshman attackman Carter Kipp had an assist, Sophomore midfielder Jackson Forkner had a goal, and the three game balls went to the 3 players who scored their first points of the season in Freshmen midfielders Christian Ellul, Carter Field, and Junior midfielder Bradley Hancock.
 
Defensively, Freshman long-stick midfielder Blake Hammond and Freshman midfielder Luke Byman paced the team in ground balls, while Freshman midfielder Roby Ripley had 13 wins at the faceoff dot and led the team in caused turnovers. Freshman goalie Mateo Cardenas got his third start of the season and stood tall in cage while also effectively transitioning the ball upfield. Every single player on the team played significant minutes en route to the statement win to complete the season.
 
Over the course of the 11-game undefeated season, the JV scored 126 points and allowed only 35. They finish as one of 2 Class A JV teams in the state with a perfect record, and the only one in the city of Houston. Highlights of the season include a 17-0 victory against Friendswood, a 12-6 win over St. Pius' varsity team, and blowout wins over Kinkaid, Episcopal, the Woodlands, and now St. John's. The team scored double-digit points in 8 of their 11 games, and no team scored more than 6 against them. The team's captains for the season were Junior goalie Andy Fuselier, Sophomore defenseman Danny Hill, Sophomore attackman Jack Ledet, and Freshman midfielder Luke Byman. Congratulations to all of the boys for a landmark season, and the team thanks program head coach Kevin Anderson, Jesuit athletic director Mike Crowley, and all the parents, teachers, and friends who supported the team throughout the season.
