Strake Jesuit Hockey Defeats Memorial West

Strake Jesuit Hockey returned to the ice Friday night for a battle against last year’s ISHL and State Champion, Memorial West, coached by Strake Jesuit alumnus Tommy Mullen ’20. Both teams entered tonight’s contest undefeated.
 
Memorial jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first period. The second period belonged to the Crusaders. Just under a minute into the period, Luke Depue ’27 tied the game with an assist from Jonathan Mathews ’26. With 8 minutes remaining in the period, Luke Depue found the back of the net for the second time, this time assisted by Nolan Aufdenspring ’26. David Rheaume ’26 scored with a rocket from the blue line, recording the eventual game-winning goal (GWG). Cameron Brown ’27 and Darshan Patel ’25 were credited with assists on the play.
 
Memorial added a goal in the third period, but two more Crusaders joined the scoresheet with goals from Cameron Brown and Jonathan Mathews to close out the night’s scoring.
 
Luke Depue led all players with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) in the 5-2 win. With the victory, the Crusaders improve to 5-0 on the season.
