Fr. Derrick Weingartner, S.J. ’87 celebrates 25 years as a Jesuit!

Fr. Derrick Weingartner, S.J. ’87 recently celebrated 25 years as a Jesuit! In a feature with jesuitscentralsouthern.org, he reflects on his first encounter with the Jesuits during his time at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and later hearing his call to the priesthood in his late 20s. He spent three years in discernment before responding to the call.

“After I said yes to the Lord that I would serve as a priest, it was natural that I would reach out to the Jesuits,” he shared.

Following this, he reached out to a Jesuit vocation director and joined the novitiate at St. Charles College in Grand Coteau in 1999.

Congratulations to Fr. Weingartner on his incredible milestone!
