Admissions

How to Apply

Strake Jesuit is a Catholic, private, all boys, college preparatory school for young men grades 9 to 12 that develops leaders in a spiritual, Christ-centered atmosphere distinguished by academic success, extracurricular achievement and service to others. Based on the inspiration of St. Ignatius, the founder of the Jesuits over 475 years ago, the goal of a Jesuit education is for each student to realize that he is called to be open to growth, intellectually competent, loving, religious, committed to doing justice and a Man for Others.

Applicants should be academically prepared, willing to perform dedicated and consistent academic work outside of class every day, and be receptive to the various religious formation programs which are essential to the school's total program.

  • 2. Submit Teacher Recommendation Forms and Record Release Form

Strake Jesuit asks that all applicants submit teacher recommendation forms from their current English teacher, Math teacher, and Principal/Counselor.

Teacher recommendation forms should be submitted to your son’s teachers, who will complete them and then send them directly to the Strake Jesuit Admissions Office. To ensure that teachers get to know the student well, they should not submit recommendation forms before November 1. There are two options for submitting teacher recommendation forms to your son’s teachers:

         1) You can create a mySJ account (or access your pre-existing account) and send the forms directly to your son’s teachers from the Progress Page Checklist, which will enable them to upload the forms directly to our system (this method is strongly preferred), or

         2) You can download the forms below and either email them or print and deliver them to the teachers.

The Records Release Form should also be submitted to your son’s current school. You can download that form below as well.

  • 3. Take an Entrance Exam

As part of the application process, Strake Jesuit requires that all applicants who are applying as incoming 9th or 10th graders take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) and submit their scores to the Admissions Office. 11th or 12th grade transfer applicants should submit PSAT results rather than taking an entrance exam.

  • 5. Optional Items - Apply for Financial Aid

We believe that the cost of tuition should not deter a student from attending Strake Jesuit and are committed to working with each family's unique circumstances to provide need-based tuition assistance.

At Strake Jesuit, we accept students based on their ability to succeed in the classroom; embrace our Catholic, Jesuit mission; and become a leader and Man for Others - NOT their economic circumstances. For the 2024-25 school year, roughly 22% of the student body will receive financial aid from a budget of over $5.3 million. Awards range from $4,000 to full aid. Freshman applicants should submit their Financial Aid application by January 15, 2025 and transfer applicants should submit their application by March 28, 2025.
